19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a challenging period, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from March of that year.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better service.
He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional title, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
